What if you knew positively, not just as a matter of belief, that you survived death?

Right now, however strong your faith, you may hope there will be a hereafter, but you are not inwardly sure. This uncertainty in your own consciousness prevents you from looking ahead with any anticipation to the joining of those you love when your time comes to go.

සිදුවන බව නිශ්චය වශයෙන්ම කිව හැකි සිද්ධියක් අපගේ ජීවිතවල ඇතොත් ඒ මරණය පමණි. එබැවින් එය ජීවිතයේ අන් හැම සිදුවීමකටම වඩා වැදගත් වේ. මුළු ජීවිතය පුරාම අප උත්සාහ කරන්නේ මරණයෙන් බේරීමටය. අපගේ සෑම ක්‍රියාවක්ම ගොඩනැඟී ඇත්තේ මරණය කේන්‍ද්‍ර කොටගෙනය. එහෙත් කොතෙක් උත්සාහ කළ ද මරණයෙන් බේරීම නම් අපට කෙසේවත් කළ නොහැක. එසේ වුවත් අප කිසිවක් නොදන්නේ ද මරණය ගැනමය.

උපන් හැම දෙනාම මරණය උරුමකොට ගෙන එන නිසා, සෑම දෙනාම මරණයට නියත වන නිසා මරණය පිළිබඳව කරුණු දැන සිටීම ඉතා වැදගත්ය. එබැවින් උපන් සියල්ලන් විසින් ම, එනම්, මරණයට නියතව සිටින  සියල්ලන් විසින් ම අන් කවර කරුණක් නොකියවුව ද නොදැන සිටියද, කියවිය යුතුම දැනගත යුතුම වූ උපදෙස් සංග්‍රහය නම් මෙය වේ.

මෙම උපදෙස් වලින් කියවෙන්නේ, අප විසින් අඬා දොඩා වැළපෙමින් නිකම්ම අපතේ හරින මරණය වැනි දෙයකින් උපරිම ප්‍රයෝජනයක් ගන්නා ආකාරය ය, එහිදී අපට ජීවිතයේ දී පත් විය හැකි උසස්ම තත්ත්වය වූ නිර්වාණය පවා සාක්‍ෂාත් කරගත හැකි ආකාරය පිළිබඳවය.

‘ඔබගේ මනසේ තියුණුස්වභාවය නැතිවන්නට පෙර, වේදනාව විසින් ඔබ වෙලාගනු ලැබීමට පෙර, ඔබ අනතුරට පත්වීමට පෙර සත්‍යාවබෝධය සඳහා වෙර දරන්න.’ - කුලාර්ණව තන්ත්‍රය, 1.27.
